Is Your Home Wired to Sell?
Depending on when your home was built and when it was last
updated affects your bottom line. In older homes it is not
uncommon to have glass fuses or knob and tube wiring.
Newer homes will have romex wiring.
What does this mean to you? Buyers prefer to buy homes that
do not require immediate updating. If new wiring is not in
your budget, make sure what you have is in good workingorder. Buyers will appreciate the effort and feel more comfortable purchasing your home.
Making sure your home is up to code is also a great idea. Not only will this eliminate
any confusion on the home inspection, you can sleep better at night knowing your
home is a safer place to live. Just make sure any work you have done is completed by a
licensed electrician and all permits are properly pulled.
Lastly, avoid using extension cords, or outlet splitters. This reduces clutter and will
keep a buyer from thinking there is inadequate service in the home.
